The Tikhoff-Linberg procedure represents one of the possibilities for treatment of extensive bone and soft tissue tumors in the shoulder region, and is a limb saving alternative to interscapulothoracic amputation. This procedure includes a resection of the proximal part of the humerus, a total scapulectomy, and a total or partial excision of the clavicula. The authors operated by this method in a time period of 26 years on eight patients. The diagnoses of operated bone tumors were three osteosarcomas, three chondrosarcomas, one fibrosarcoma and one clinically solitary metastasis. The tumor was located four times in the scapula, three times in the upper...
Výskyt prenatálních irreponibilních luxací kycelního kloubu u novorozenců.

Coleman differentiated in his recent classification hip dislocations to three groups: Usual (typical) dislocations, Prenatal hip dislocations (irreducible at birth) and Teratologic hip dislocations found together with arthrogryposis or neuromuscular diseases. Hip dislocations in cases of spina bifida are excluded as there is another mechanism of development. In the late-phase it is quite impossible to differentiate a developed typical hip dislocation from prenatal hip dislocation. Authors in this study analysed the all material of the long-lasting prospective epidemiologic study 1984-1995 involving clinical and ultrasonographical examination of 56.820...
[Anterolateral Approach of TKA.].
K Koudela
Acta Chir Orthop Traumatol Cech. 1999; 66(2):87-94
Author describes anterolateral approach to the knee joint that he has been using since 1998 for total knee arthroplasty in more severe deformities fixed in valgus position. He points out the strengths and weaknesses as compared to the classic antero-medial approach. Anterolateral approach in a valgus knee is more physiological, releasing of longitudinal retinacula of the pattela including retinaculum transversum patellae laterale is part of the approach, it allows full closing of the surgical wound in all layers, it has a favourable impact on the restoration of normal range of movement of patella and allows to balance the knee joint in valgus and semiflexion...
[Fractures and physeal injuries of proximal humeral end in children.].
P Gál, F Tecl, J Skotáková
Acta Chir Orthop Traumatol Cech. 1999; 66(2):95-100
A total of 102 children and adolescents, 27 girls and 75 boys of the median age of 10.9 years, were treated for injuries to the proximal humerus at the PediatricTrauma Centre of the Clinic of Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology in Brno over the period of 1993-1997. A conservative approach was indicated in 51 cases (50%), percutaneous pinning after conservative reduction in 50 cases (49%) and an open surgical approach in one case (1%). In 97 patients the treatment results were evaluated as excellent, in 5 patients as good. No avascular necrosis of the caput humeri was recorded. The percutaneous pinning management is prefered because of the final management...
[Osteosynthesis of the pseudoarthrosis of the navicular bone with the herbert screw - own modification with the usage of the tricortical bone graft.].

Acta Chir Orthop Traumatol Cech. 1999; 66(2):101-104
Authors in their a short report are presenting possibility of scaphoid reconstruction for nonunion with a modeled tricortical corticocancellous bone graft from the illiac crest after resection of pseudoarthrosis back to the healthy bone in their's own modification. This operation with the possibility of stable osteosyntesis with the use of Herbert screw gives ideal opportunity for restoration of full length and thus also function of navicular bone without use of any postoperative immobilization. Also detailed operation technique is described including a bone graft harvesting and its final modelation. Finally authors are presenting a case of 5 years...

[Osteochondral fractures of the knee joint, its classification and its relationship to osteochondrosis dissecans.].
J Bartonícek, D Jehlicka
Acta Chir Orthop Traumatol Cech. 1999; 66(2):119-125
The author deals with the classification of osteochondral fractures of the knee joint. The existing classification schemes of lesion of the articular surface are rather general and do not distinguish between different causes of their onset. The only exception is the classification of G. Muhr who divides traumatic lesion of the articular cartilage into contusions, impressions and fractures. Contusions include subchondral hematoma and fissures of the articular surface. Among impressions are impression fractures, spring impressions of the articular edge. Fractures are divided into isolated chondral fractures and osteochondral fractures. Osteochondrosis...
